About us

WHO WE ARE

Founded in early 2002, the SPCA of Southwest Michigan is a not-for-profit animal welfare community that is bringing leadership and results to the problem of pet homelessness in Southwest Michigan.  Our volunteer base numbers more than 150 people.  We are diverse in our skills and backgrounds—we are men and women, business owners, stay-at-home moms, and professionals.

WHY WE ARE HERE

Our mission is compelling:

We are here to rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving homes for the forgotten pets in Southwest Michigan pounds.  We save adoptable pets and make families complete.

OUR AREAS OF FOCUS

The SPCA has stepped forward to provide leadership in several areas:

• Put in place a safety net for the thousands of unwanted and unloved companion animals that perish each year in our communities

• Meet the growing demand in our communities for pets as family members

• Promote reponsible pet ownership

• Reduce pet overpopulation

Over time, as our organization continues to mature, we will put in place an effective program to investigate cases of animal abuse and neglect and to prosecute those who harm animals.
